This weekend will see a whole pile of stars and their cars converge on the Perth Motorplex including the #15 machine of Rob Golding for the John Day Speedcar Classic!

In a twenty two strong field, Rob will be looking to stay out of trouble and record a good result after previously coming home twelfth in the inaugural year and ninth last year, a good results progression.

“With the year we have had, just finishing a clean feature race would be great!” says Rob. “Of course, a top ten would be amazing with the calibre of drivers here.”

Those drivers include USAC Champion Tyler Courtney, American superstars Alex Bright and Jason McDougal, as well as New Zealand Champion Michael Pickens, all of whom have headed to WA to honour John Day, something Rob is excited about.

“It’s by far the biggest race I have been a part of, laps wise but also prestige wise,” he says. “John Day is a legend all over the world for what he has done at the Motorplex and Claremont; it’s only fitting that the biggest race in Australia is in his honour. I’ve been lucky enough to have raced at a few tracks around the country and there is nothing anywhere else like what the Day family does here at home.”

As part of the race this weekend, Rob is pleased to be debuting an updated paint scheme.

“I’m pretty happy with the new livery. It’s a lot brighter than last year so hopefully it stands out on track!!”

It is sure to be a big show and one that Rob is thrilled to be part of. It is on that note that he wishes to thank all those who have worked to make this event happen.

“There has to be a huge thank you sent out to the whole JDSC Committee for the effort they have put in over the last few years to get this event off the ground. The work they have put in is incredible and its sure to be an amazing show.”
